Sussex captain Ed Joyce is closing in on a fifth LV= County Championship hundred of the season as the visitors have enjoyed a productive couple of sessions against Yorkshire on day one at Scarborough.

Joyce has helped the visitors, invited to bat this morning, recover from 45-2 by sharing a century stand with Craig Cachopa.

The pair advanced the score with a 124-run partnership in 44 overs either side of lunch, and Sussex have reached tea at 206-3 from 64 overs.

The only wicket to fall in the afternoon was that of Cachopa, caught at second slip above his head by Adam Lyth off Tim Bresnan’s first ball from the Peasholm Park End for 53.

Joyce will resume this evening on 78 not out with Luke Wright on 29.
