ADAM Henry has revealed he snubbed interest from two Super League clubs to become the latest player to sign a new one-year deal at Bradford.

The New Zealander, who arrived from Sydney Roosters during pre-season, has established himself as a first-team regular and featured in five of the Bulls’ six games since Jimmy Lowes was appointed.

The 23-year-old centre said he was keen to repay Lowes’ faith in him by staying at Odsal and being part of next season’s promotion challenge.

Henry said: “My manager advised me to keep my options open and said there was a bit of interest from two other Super League clubs.

“There were a few options and talks without anything being set in stone.

“But Bradford wanted me to stay and the main thing for me was Jimmy.

“He has put a lot of faith in me and pretty much played me every week since he has been here. That was the main reason why I chose to stay.”

Henry was signed by Francis Cummins following a recommendation from ex-Bradford coach Brian Smith.

He has racked up an impressive 23 appearances and scored six tries during his debut campaign in England.

Henry added: “I was lucky enough to play regularly from the start under Franny and he and Lee St Hilaire taught me a lot.

“But Jimmy came in with a fresh approach and has been more ruthless with us in training.

“He said all the hard work would pay off and in the past two games we have beaten Wigan and Leeds.”

Henry admits he is relishing the prospect of helping the Bulls return to Super League at the first attempt.

Next season’s Championship campaign will mark the club’s first season outside of the top flight for over 40 years.

“I’m excited by the challenge,” said Henry.

“You look at the squad we have now and it’s probably only around a third of what it will be when it’s complete.

“I’ve spoken to Sam Wood about the Championship and he said it’s rough – the pitches are different and everyone has a bit more mongrel in them.

“But yes, I’m excited by it. I know Jimmy sees me as very much a centre but I’m versatile too.

“The fans have been very welcoming and I’d like to thank them for all the love they given me since I came to Bradford.

“We have got four games left and we believe we can win them all. Finishing the season with six straight wins would be fantastic.”

Lowes’ squad is fast taking shape after Henry joined Tom Olbison, Adam Sidlow, Lee Gaskell, Dale Ferguson and Adam O’Brien in agreeing to stay at Odsal.

The Bulls head coach, who has also signed five new recruits, said: “Adam is a player with great attacking flair and I like a lot of what he does.

“He certainly has something to offer the team and I’m hoping, over the next few years, he can flourish and become a key figure in our side.

“He is young and still has a lot to learn, but has bags of potential and I’m delighted that we have been able to secure his services.

“He’s happy to be here and we are happy to have him on board on for next season.”

lets hope he spends the off season learning how to tackle; his defence has been shocking this season.

A young lad who came into a club in turmoil. I have always thought we haven't seen the best of him. Yes, I agree with above about him needing to improve his tackling but that should come with Jimmy and whoever he gets as his assistant. Tackling wasn't a top priority with the last coaching team.
I am happy with this signing as I think he does have the potential of being a good centre. lets get Purtel, George, Blyth and the lad from Salford signed up now. I would even keep Foster if Kear leaves.

Purtell and blyth worth keeping too.
Forget foster though.
We need a bad as scrum half a couple of props and a ball playing loose,
We should fair ok then

Agreed, but he's looked better since Jimmy took over and he's good going forward. If he can sort his defence out (which he does seem to be doing) he'll be a cracking player.

Pleased about this, suspect this guy can be a lot better than we've seen, his defence was awful but then the whole teams defence was awful prior to Jimmy coming in. Shame about Donno bit hopefully Addy will sign up and on we go. for 2015.

Fully agree. A bit unfair to single him out when the whole defence was a shambles. He will get better under Jimmy.

Rumours abound about ALL the players not re signed, Gale not going to Cas now, Addy, to Saints, Wigan, Wire, Blythe to FC, Kear to London Welsh. So take your pick what you believe. Those who want to stay will do, those who don't will go. The only " Rumours " I believe in is the Fleetwood Mac album of that name.

Good luck, James and all success in the future at KR.

There wasn't a lot wrong with Adam Henry as a Player, but these last games under JL has really shown us what he will become, pretty awesome in my opinion.
If you add up the Players we have kept already and the new ones we have signed, it looks like JL is recruiting for SL not championship.
Can anyone tell me why we are supposed to believe the two Marketing attempts by the RFL, ie "The Super 8s" Million pound playoff...what's that about? If they mean that the two playoff teams are playing for a million pounds as a prize..That's OK, but if it's because the team that wins will go into SL and the money the were allocated from central funds would be increased for the winner. Then it could be any figure from £350K to £900k depending on who played who...but never £1m.

Think they need to explain that, along with why they are calling a top competition in the Championship as a "BASH" in relationship to SLs MAGIC Weekend?
A bash implies a punch up at the seaside, good for the old mods and rockers era.
I really and truthfully despair ?
