DAVE Petersen’s all-action style is set to take the Championship by storm for the Bulls next season.

That is the view of the man who helped engineer his move to Odsal from Queensland Cup outfit Mackay Cutters on a one-year deal.

Player agent Craig Harrison first spotted the former Hull KR man when he was playing on dual registration for Workington a few seasons ago.

He marked him out as a special talent then and now, having spent two years Down Under playing part-time rugby with the Cutters, Petersen will return to the full-time ranks next year.

Harrison said: “The first thing you notice about Dave when you watch him play is his will to win, his enthusiasm and his desire.

“He’s all-action and, with his hairstyle, he looks a bit like Rambo.

“The Bradford fans will absolutely love him because he gives 110 per cent week in and week out.

“When players drop out of Super League, they can find it hard to get motivated but Dave went to Australia, had played virtually every game for Mackay in the Queensland Cup and is absolutely buzzing about coming to Bradford.

“A lot of players go into the Queensland Cup who don’t get into NRL first-teams.

“If you look at the stats and see how many of them actually survive in the Queensland Cup, there aren’t many.

“Many last about half a year because they realise it’s actually quite a tough competition – but Dave has been there for two years now and has played every week.”

Petersen can operate in the second row and hooker but his favoured position is at loose forward.

He made four appearances in Super League for Hull KR in 2012 when he also had a spell on dual registration with Workington.

“Dave is one of those players who loves to tackle – he averages about 40 per game,” Harrison added.

“I honestly don’t think there will be a more committed player in the Championship next season than Dave Petersen.”

Petersen’s move to Bradford arose when he contacted Harrison and asked him to circulate his match footage to clubs in England.

He attracted interest from a Super League team and a leading Championship outfit before opting to join Jimmy Lowes’ men.

Harrison explained: “When I watched Dave’s footage, I thought he could play at the highest level in Super League.

“We began to speak regularly via Skype and I did my homework on him, ringing Chris Chester who coached him at Hull KR and couldn’t speak highly enough of him.

“I mentioned Dave to Jimmy but he already had a vast knowledge of him anyway and said ‘yes, I love him to bits, get me him’.

“Dave had other options but chose Bradford because he wants to get them up and play in Super League.

“That is what he talks of every time we speak. He’s very hungry for the challenge ahead.”

Meanwhile, former Bulls prop Richard Moore yesterday left Wakefield by mutual consent and will step up his search for a new club.
