HAWORTH Road II are favourites to lift the Mewies Solicitors Craven League's Cowling Cup for the second time.

They face Bradford & Bingley III in the final tomorrow (Sunday) at Haworth, and have a batting line-up of the experienced Charlie Hainsworth, Danish Tariq, Waj Mahmood, Shahid Mahmood and Adam Cook who can destroy any attack on their day.

Then skipper Rehan Ahmed has Tariq, Cook and Mahmood to take care of the opposition batting.

However, Bradford & Bingley have a youthful but potent opening attack of their own in juniors Zak Critchlow and Oliver Croudson, backed up by Zak's dad Dave, Alex Sandanha and Josh Longbottom.

The two outstanding batters for the Wagon Laners, who are captained by Nick Smith, are Tim Carrow and Dean Naidoo.

Since joining the competition, there is a big difference in the newcomers' records.

Bradford & Bingley III joined the league in 2010 and have only been past round one – in the first year, when they reached round three.

On the other hand, Haworth Road II, who joined in 2004, lost in the final that year to Pendle Forest II.

Since then they have reached the semi-finals twice and the final a further two times, beating Oakworth II in 2007 and losing last year to Wilsden II.

In this year’s semi-finals, the pair took care of two of the old guard, Bradford & Bingley beating Barrowford by three wickets, while Haworth Road saw off Embsay by 25 runs.

The game, which starts at 1.30pm, is sponsored by JMS Cricket Ground Equipment Ltd.
