HERMITS B and Unity, Bradford Summer League Division Two's leading clubs, have had a third and most decisive meeting of the season.
Only three points separated them with two matches left but Hermits B had the advantage and knew that a win would put daylight between them, while Unity knew that they had to triumph.
The first two matches were shared as Dave Rawlins put Unity ahead against Geoff Barnes, Tony McGowan replying for Hermits with a five-game victory over Doug Bartle.
From then on, however, it was all Unity as they took the last eight sets to record a 9-1 success.
Unity now have a seven-point lead and, with matches against two of the bottom three teams to come, they have one hand on the title.
In Division One, the top two were also in opposition, and runaway leaders Yeadon C were beaten for the third time by Yeadon A. The C team made a great start as Deo Jones and Shahiar Masoudi overcame John Chew and Peter Clarkson respectively, but Tim Dyson rescued the A team by taking all his three singles, and with Chew overcoming both Masoudi and Fred Yeung, Yeadon A led 5-4 and took the doubles for a 6-4 victory.
