In Parky we trust! Bantams defender Andrew Davies confident numbers will add up in time for kick-off

ANDREW Davies trusts Phil Parkinson to fill any holes in City’s squad for the new season.

The build-up to the start of League One has been dogged by concerns over the lack of numbers at Parkinson’s disposal.

But defensive lynchpin Davies remains confident that the Bantams boss will recruit the back-up needed and insists it should not be a concern for the players.

He said: “You’ve got to focus on your job and what you’re on the pitch to do.

“The manager is obviously trying to get people in and he’s been working hard to do that all summer.

“Hopefully numbers do come in because people will start picking up little niggles and you need someone to come on and make a difference.

“But the manager is trying his hardest to get that sorted and we’ve just got to concentrate on what we’re paid to do.

“It’s an incentive for the lads who start on Saturday to keep that shirt. Obviously the more players that come in, the more there will be competition for places.

“You’ve got to go out there and make sure that even if the manager does bring anyone in, they don’t take your shirt.

“It should really get the best out of players and hopefully that’s the case.”

Expectation around the club has been lower this time around after all the hype surrounding their return to the third tier a year ago. But Davies sees that working in City’s favour.

“I suppose it does help. As a group, you’ve got to look at where we finished last year and set yourself the target of beating that.

“You’ve got to push on. It’s a massive year for everyone – the manager, the players and all of those involved in the football club.

“We all want to try and get out of this league as soon as we possibly can. You’ve got to be aiming high.

“Nobody’s being loud and shouting about it but among the lads, the aim has to be to keep progressing this year.

“We’ve got a good team. It’s a big change from last year but I think we’re starting to click.

“It’s a different way of playing and will take time to get used to. But as long as we’re organised and do what the manager says, then I’m sure we will be absolutely fine.”

we might get out of this league but at the wrong end unless we get more quality in soon because we don't want to be playing catch up

To be fair though have you ever read a report where players are quoted as saying 'We're doomed' or 'The manager is clueless, the squad is terrible and there is palpable tension in the air'?
These reports are just cut and paste jobs and the same cliches are used regardless of how we are performing or what morale is like.

Are there any true city fans still out there? You know, city fans that have been supporting the club for years through thick and thin, good and bad? Well I'm fed up of reading all this moaning, mincing, gnashing off teeth about the manager, the board and now starting to question why the fantastic Andrew Davies us making comments. Just get behind the club end of - anyone who doubts the support of the board in their love and genuine support and custody of the club or the footballing nounce and dedication of our manager want to give there heads a shake. We are in it together good or bad so with only a few days to go to the start of the season let's just get positive, get behind the team and make some noise on Saturday. CTID

We do have some quality and perhaps need a little more. The team were very competitive last season, whether they can improve will be seen in due course. No doubt City's position in the league will fluctuate during the season so there will be ample opportunity for the resident moaners to complain.

Often yeah - for the England side!!!

And posters on here. Let's hope we can score the goals because we should be tight at the back (maybe with the exception of the cup games at the moment!).

Most important - we need our first team to stay fit.

Hopefully all the City souls will be on board a play off / promotion push long before next May!!

Here's hoping - if Hanson and McLean can both get around 18-22 league goals we are in with a chance, with the rest of the team scoring from midfield and corners etc ...

Keep an look out for the same 'fans' that have thrown the towel in before we have even kicked a ball in league one this season criticising players for not having enough fight during games. I hope we are not relying on this lot to encourage the team when times, as they always do, start getting difficult.
