ON a lovely sunny afternoon it was surprising how many low scores there were in the Craven League, with at least 18 under 100.

High scores were hard to come by, with only a handful over 200 and one over 300.

Division One leaders Oakworth were at home to Riddlesden and going first they rattled up a massive 276-7, with Gareth Marshall leading the way with 89, ably assisted by Paul Spragg 60 and Jack Hainsworth 55. The Grange Road side replied with a competitive 232 in 39.3 overs. Rinki Sainh made 75.

Ingrow St John’s were at home to Haworth Road, who were knocked over for just 82. Saints galloped home in just 13.4 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Third place Crossflatts were at home to Embsay and surprisingly went down by two wickets. The Rhysworth Park side went first and reached 100-8 before No 9 Abdul Majid smashed a quick-fire 50 not out to take them to 162-8. The Shires Laners took the points despite Feyaz Akram taking 6-41.

The relegation battle between Thornton and Haworth went the way of the visitors by 82 runs. Dan Trowers’ 61 helped the Bronte side to 191 as Chris Bowker took 4-13. Then Jamie Rowell (4-21) had the homeside back in the hut for 109.

Foulridge saw off Bingley Congs by 81 runs at Noyna. John Lickess (67no) was the backbone of the homesters’ 181 with Harry Greenhalgh taking 4-51 and Michael Baines 4-57. The Beckfoot Lane side never really got going and were dismissed for 100 as John Lambert 5-26 and Daz Greenwood 5-43 did all the damage.

Barrowford added to the woes of bottom side Cowling. Martyn Dalby made 87 as the Coliseum side posted 197-8 but Peter Cowburn (90) and Andy Smith (62) put on 159 for the second wicket on their way to a six-wicket win.

There is a logjam at the top of Division Two, with six teams covered by just four points.

New leaders are Ingrow, who beat Hepworth & Idle (175). Lee Humphreys (63no) was the backbone of the Hainworth side’s 178-4.

Bradley are sixth following a 97-run victory over Oakworth II. James Heseltine made 50 and Casper Bean 34 not out as the homesters totalled 157-6. The Cure Hill side capitulated to 60 all out as Tim Rudden took 5-15.
