BRADFORD CITY AA
Although there have been a few rainstorms during the week, water levels in most rivers are still low and fishing conditions are often difficult, especially during the day. However, members continue to report some good catches from BCAA fisheries. Grayling have featured strongly on BCAA’s Skirbeck Farm stretch of the Ribble. One angler reported no fewer than 20 fish in one session last weekend, while Ryan van Delft – who had never caught a grayling before – used a trotted red maggot to lure three fish of more than 2lb, which were returned to the water. At Staveley large lake, Wayne Mellor had a good net as well, with a personal best mirror carp of 18lb 1oz and three commons of 10-14lb during one night session. Committee and other members have continued to be busy improving club fisheries. The club have just placed orders for carp, tench, roach and silver fish to be stocked into Staveley Lakes later in the year, when cooler conditions are better for the fish. BCAA hold their annual meeting on Wednesday, September 24 and is looking for committee men to fill vacancies. If any member is willing to help run a thriving club or wishes to propose a new rule or rule change, then please contact Mike Briggs on 01274-684906 or bradfordcityaa@aol.com before Sunday, August 31. D Hare, from Harrogate, won the Copper Kettle Challenge match at Dunsforth on Sunday, with 7lb 6oz of roach, perch and small chub. The next match, for BCAA members only, will be the R S Escott Memorial at Staveley on Saturday, August 9. Details from Rod Brooksbank on 0787-5275749 or Steve Fox on 0770-8260004.
