New member F McDonald, on his first fish, had a catch made up of several tench to 7lb, two pike (the best 15lb) and a double-figure carp. The Tuesday evening match was won by A Tabiner with three tench for 6lb 12oz, 2 E Harrison 2lb 4oz, 3 J Harrison 1lb 4oz. The members’ trophy match at Newton-On-Ouse was won by E Harrison with 12lb 4oz made up of several species, including a good chub and roach to 1lb, 2 D Jackson with two barbel for 9lb 14oz, 3 D Preston 4lb 1oz. The draw for tomorrow’s open match at Rodley is at 9am by Moss Swing Bridge in Rodley centre.

BRADFORD No1 AA

James Vickerman won last Sunday’s members’ match at Nun Monkton with 7lb 11oz of perch on worm. Second place went to Andy Jacques with a chub and silver fish for a total of 6lb 9oz, which takes him to second place in the overall aggregate weight after four matches with 61lb 3oz. Howard Foster leads the aggregate weight with 61lb 10oz with three matches remaining. Some sections of the River Calder will be closed on Sunday for round two of this year’s Calder League, which draws at The Railway Inn at 9am. Places are still available for the junior match at Raskelf on Saturday, July 26 from Simon on 01274-571175. Cowthorpe and Howsham Wood are worth a visit this week for chub and barbel into double figures on float and caster.

WASHBURN VALLEY

Average per rod: Fewston 2.2, Swinsty 4, Thruscross 8. The heaviest fish caught was a 4lb 6oz rainbow trout by S Thompson using klinkhammer. Fewston: Trout sitting deep as water levels drop and bright sunshine interrupt feeding patterns. Intermediate lines of heavy lures required. Swinsty: Warm water brings perch alive chasing every spinner. Thruscross: Wild brown trout feeding well on the abundant fly life.Traditional dark wet flies.

BRADFORD CITY AA

All of the association’s waters are producing good catches and are worth a visit. The next matchis on Sunday, July 20 at Lower Dunsforth on the River Ure. The general meeting is on Tuesday, August 19 in the New Inn, East Bierley commencing at 8pm. Potential new members will be made welcome. We have a five-day trip to Rhyl ongoing at the moment. and will have a report next week.
