PUDSEY Congs and Townville will meet in this season's Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final at Spen Victoria on Sunday, August 3.

Townville defeated All Rounder Cricket Equipment Central Yorkshire League rivals Methley by 80 runs, while Congs crushed Kirkburton by 207 runs.

It will be league champions Townville's second final in three seasons after they lost to Wrenthorpe at Liversedge in 2012.

But for JCT600 Bradford League side Congs, it will be their first appearance in a Heavy Woollen Cup final.

Congs have been reserving their best form for this competition and piled up 352-8 as they overcame Huddersfield League opponents Kirkburton, who had seen off holders Hanging Heaton and Woodlands in the previous two rounds.

Callum Geldart led the run spree with a sparkling 110. He struck two sixes and ten fours and was joined in a first-wicket stand of 168 by Nick Lindley (69). Mubtada Akhtar (35) and Andrew Bairstow (33) added to the misery of the Kirkburton bowlers.

Iqbal Khan made 50 for Kirkburton but his colleagues faltered against the bowling of Mustafa Rafique (5-48) and Geldart (3-33) as they were bowled out for 145.

Townville made 237-9 against Methley, with Connor Harvey making 55 and Matt Bremmer 36, while Marcus Walmsley (3-36) proved to be the most successful Methley bowler.

Their reply was dominated by skipper Chris Holliday, who made 91 as they were bowled out for 157, with Dean Woolsey taking 4-46.

Meanwhile, the Solly Sports Crowther Cup final will be an all-Bradford League affair when neighbours Morley and New Farnley meet at Methley on Monday, August 25.

Morley batsman Sam Medley played a superb innings of 171, which helped his side to 342-6 at Hanging Heaton.

Naved Siddique (77) and Richard Winn (45) also got in on the act as only Adeel Hafeez (4-44) emerged with decent figures.

Chasing such a big target was always going to be difficult and Heaton were bowled out for 189, with spinner Jack Murphy taking 3-52.

New Farnley cruised into the final with a nine-wicket win at Skelmanthorpe.

Rishi Limbechaya took 4-28 and Will Swift 3-23 as they dismissed the home side for 135. Farnley were carried to victory by Craig Russell, who made an unbeaten 96.
