BINGLEY Congs have recorded their first Division One win of the season in the Bradford & District Evening League.

Graham Love came to the wicket with one ball remaining and his team trailing John Breare's total of 103-8 by one run.

Showing no nerves, he dispatched the ball to the boundary to leave his team-mates celebrating a welcome win.

Earlier, Aidy Dibb took 3-22 to help limit the Breare batsmen, for whom Matthew Lumb (27) scored some valuable runs coming in at No 9.

Amer Ayoub was the star of the show for Shelf, producing a brilliant all-round performance.

Opening the innings, he made 37 and, along with Zaheer Shah (51no) and Mohammed Zahid (47), helped set an imposing score of 166-5 at Thornton.

Ayoub then produced a devastating spell of 5-14 to leave the home side on 100-9. Nicky Hutchinson (38) caused some worry for the fielding side but a last-wicket stand of 46 was finally ended with one ball remaining.

Salem Athletic remain top as Khalid Rehman (53no) helped them make 151-4, Smart Moves' reply ending on 133-5.

Denholme are still two points behind the leaders as their 130-6 proved too much for a valiant Tong Park Esholt, whose reply ended 14 runs short of victory.

Kashif Naveed was another player to produce a fantastic all-round performance.

After having retired on making a half-century, he returned to the wicket when Wibsey Park Chapel were 116-9 and helped his side to 146-9 in Division Two, having made 79 not out, Stonewhite's Zaheer Abbas emerging with an excellent 5-16 return.

In reply, Azhar Hussain (58) put his team in a great position at 114-3 with eight overs remaining before Naveed struck to take five wickets, including three in four balls, to put Wibsey back in contention.

The last seven wickets fell for only 15 runs for the visitors to record an unlikely 17-run win.

Buttershaw's batsmen needed to be in good form as they chased Mayfield's 176-4, with both Mustafah Shah and John Farr making half-centuries.

Paul Carroll (50no) led the reply and then overseas star Brad Neyland (43no) saw his side claim the points off the last ball.

Thackley remain top after a walkover against Keighley, who were unable to raise a team.

Shipley Providence stayed in the promotion chase, recording a 57-run win at Queensbury, while Oakworth kept their hopes alive with a 20-run success at Cambing.
