GIRLINGTON B have made a successful start to their defence of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League's H Broadbent Trophy.

They restricted Hallfield B to 128 and made 131-2 (Mohammed Myat 64no, Basharat Hussain 50).

Salem Athletic B, runners-up in 2013, have also progressed, making short work of nine-man Muff Field B (34 in 14.2 overs – Mehr Sultan 5-11). Salem passed their target without loss in just 4.1 overs.

League newcomers TABS suffered their first defeat – to Great Horton Church by 40 runs. Daanyal Ahmed was the star for Church, the 15-year-old making 70 and sharing a third-wicket stand of 113 with Aaqib Hussain (38), Tariq Rashid adding 43 in their 200-7.

Nisar Hussain took 4-37 and scored 62 not out in TABS' 160-8.

Naveed Akram (5-33) and Sohail Javed (44) were the key men for Bradford Gymkhana B, who defeated Cambing B (98 – Fahim Jan 41) by four wickets.

Yorkshire LPS B completed a double over Great Horton Meths, defeating their ten-man opponents by four wickets. James Keighley scored 39 of Meths' 58, Nishith Patel taking 7-11.

In the all-Group D clash, Mayfield B defeated eight-man Bradford Indians (52 – Gary Smith 4-18) by nine wickets.
