BRADFORD were unable to convert a foursomes lead into victory for the second successive match as they drew 18-18 against neighbours Leeds at Cookridge.

Having led 7-5 after the morning session, Tim Wade’s golfers appeared to be homing in on their first win of the season when they went 15-11 up during the singles. But the hosts fought back in the latter matches to share the spoils on a course which had held up well despite heavy rain.

Wade, whose side lost their opener at East Riding, said: “For the second successive away match, we had led after the foursomes and not pushed on but this time had not lost. We felt that we had done enough to win but fell short at the final hurdle.”

Bradford welcomed back Hawksworth’s Ben Mountain from injury. Their next match is at home to York at Cleckheaton on June 22.
