Bradford Park Avenue are hoping to attract young supporters by offering free season tickets to students.

Adult prices have been frozen and are available now for £180, with concessionary prices for over-60s at £120.

Those prices are for an early bird offer which runs until June 21. Both rates will raise by £10 after then.

However, season tickets for students and under-16s are free on production of valid ID. As previously, armed forces personnel (on production of warrant card) are also entitled to free admission.

The club’s finance director Kevin Hainsworth said: “We have been working on the price structure for some time and we apologise to our fans for making them wait until now.

“We tried to get more sponsors on board and local businesses involved in the hope that we could get a reduction in ticket prices to reward our fans but it didn’t work out, so the next best thing was to hold the price from last season.

“Unfortunately it is all about money at the end of the day and if we can up the playing budget for John Deacey without putting the club at risk then we have a chance of bringing success on the pitch.”

Gate prices for individual matches are £11 for adults, £7 for students and concessions, while it will still be free for under-16s.

“We believe that it represents very good value and we will be pushing season ticket sales with a marketing campaign.

“We want to get the message out there and spread the word.

“It helps that we had a decent season in the Conference North and had a good FA Cup run last year.

“John has led the club to the televised first-round proper stages on three occasions and we almost got there again last season.

“We were beaten in a fourth qualifying round replay by Kidderminster Harriers and they were second in the Conference Premier then.

“Those games stood out for me, they were a good advert for non-league football.

“There was some very good football played at Horsfall Stadium last season and hopefully that will bring fans back and give some new ones the inclination to come and get behind us.”
