Bradford defeated Halifax 32-24 in the Yorkshire Veterans Inter-District League to make it two wins out of two.

It was a disappointing home result at Peel Park, with four winners each, but Graham Oliver 21-9 and Nino Esposito 21-10 ensured Bradford won the aggregate as they won the home match 16-12.

News came through that Bradford had also won the away match at Sowerby Tennis & Bowling Club, winning the aggregate thanks to Tony Riley’s stunning 21-3 win.

The Yorkshire Parks Inter-City takes place tomorrow.

There are only seven teams this year, with four teams in Pool A, and three teams in Pool B.

The winner of each Pool will contest the final, which will be played at Rothwell BC at approximately 5.30pm.

Yorkshire Ladies went down to a 415-397 defeat against North Warwickshire in their second County Championship game.

It was a disappointing result, having won the home match at Linthwaite Hall by 46 chalks, carding nine home winners.

It was hard to take when news came through that the away team had lost by 64 chalks at Bedworth BC, despite securing four away winners on a difficult away green.

Yorkshire paid the price for too many single figure losses, having won 13 of the 24 matches.

It is with regret that Bowling C have had to withdraw from the Saturday Mellor League. Teams affected are Tyersal B, West Bradford B, Bradford Moor B, Queensbury C, Greengates C, Peel C, Oakenshaw B, Shelf B, Hipperholme & Lightcliffe B and Bailiff Bridge B.

Clubs should be aware that there has been a change in the venue for the Hospital Handicap, which takes place on Sunday, July 20. It will now be held at Hove Edge WMC.

The Yorkshire Crown Green Inter-District is this year to be played in the Aire-Wharfe area, and takes place on Sunday, August 17, as a one day competition.

Unfortunately it clashes with a Yorkshire Parks county match, which means most of the players who normally represent Bradford will be unavailable.

Rather than not enter a team, it has been decided to enter a team, giving other players a chance.

If you know of anyone who would like to be considered in representing Bradford, then please contact John Preston on 07460-851570.
