Luke George is determined to help the Bulls atone for their previous meeting with Huddersfield when they clash in the Magic Weekend on Sunday in Manchester.

The close-season signing from the Giants has endured a frustrating start to his career at Bradford after making only a handful of appearances so far.

One of those came against his hometown club on March 16, when Paul Anderson’s men racked up a 66-18 victory at Odsal.

The Bulls were decimated by injury that day with only one recognised prop available – and George admits he would love to exact revenge this weekend.

The 26-year-old winger or centre said: “We were off our game when we played the Giants in March and we didn’t really put a performance in.

“But we’ll be looking to really take it to them at the Magic Weekend because we know that we’re a decent team.

“We proved that when beating Catalan and Warrington in the past fortnight or so.

“When we keep hold of the ball and perform, you can see what we’re capable of. We’ve got a really good shot of giving it to them.”

Despite an outstanding 2012 campaign which harvested 15 Super League tries – including three hat-tricks in his first seven games – George was used only sparingly by Anderson last term and joined the Bulls on a two-year deal.

Huddersfield-born George began his career with the Giants before making his name at Wakefield and then returning to his hometown club.

“I was in the academy at Huddersfield and came through the club’s scholarship system,” said George.

“I then went to Wakefield, did five years there, and then came back to the Giants.

“They were different experiences and I enjoyed my time there but this is a new experience for me at Bradford and my sole focus now.”

Bulls coach Francis Cummins paid tribute to George after he battled through the pain barrier to come off the bench and play in Sunday’s 50-0 home defeat against St Helens.

George has been carrying a rib injury but is keen to play his part this weekend and continue the form he showed in the recent win over Catalan.

He added: “Part of my job is about getting the ball and trying to run hard and over the top of the opposition. I feel comfortable on the wing and in the centres, so wherever I get put I’m happy there.

“I hope to be involved on Sunday because the whole Magic Weekend is a great experience for everyone.

“I played at Murrayfield, the Millennium Stadium and the Etihad Stadium. They’re all good for different reasons and I really enjoyed playing up in Scotland.

“But you have big followings down in Wales and Manchester too. I’m looking forward to it.”
