Andrew Gale reached his 16th first-class hundred this afternoon as Yorkshire’s batsmen have demoralised Durham on day two of their ongoing LV= County Championship match.
Captain Gale, back in the side after dropping himself last week, hit 124 in a score of 568-5 from 161 overs at tea.
He shared 198 inside 49 overs for the fourth wicket with Jonny Bairstow, who was unlucky to fall lbw to Chris Rushworth following a questionable decision.
Despite their domination, Yorkshire’s lack of aggression with the bat through the afternoon has been a surprise.
The ongoing partnership for the sixth-wicket between Andrew Hodd and Adil Rashid has reached 66 inside 19 overs, but it has gone at less than four runs per over. Rashid is 54 and Hodd 35.
