8:49pm

8:49pm

Four minutes added time to play

8:47pm

They have got a crowd then.... 2,714. Well that's what they are saying but looks more than that

8:47pm

McBurnie wins a free-kick to the side of the penalty area. Bit of a sympathy vote there from the ref

8:46pm

8:46pm

Good effort from Mottley-Henry as City hunt a consolation but Bransgrove has everything behind it

8:43pm

Monk for Jack Curtis for Colchester, Devine for Jenkinson for City. Five minutes left

8:40pm

And now another card for Moore-Azille....

8:39pm

8:38pm

Heaton booms a throw into the goal-mouth and McBurnie header just too high...

8:38pm

And now Brampton goes into Jason Knowles' book for throwing the ball away. Bit daft when you're 4-1 up

8:38pm

Another Colchester change, Smith for Sembie-Ferris. That's easier to type...

8:37pm

King gets the first booking of the night for dragging back Bonne

8:34pm

Brennan comes on for Webb-Foster - to save the striker from more hot water

8:34pm

Szmodics sprints clear from halfway to round Barker and complete his hat-trick, game over. 1-4

8:33pm

8:32pm

Ref calls over captain Stockdill and Webb-Foster and tells the striker to cool it down. No card - a first-team game would not have been so lenient

8:32pm

Few heads going as the game gets away from City...

8:31pm

Getting heated now as Webb-Foster jumps in late on Kent

8:31pm

Crowd not impressed with the Colchester bench as the fourth official has a strong word with the physio...

8:30pm

Sembie-Ferris dumped on the floor by Waters. McBurnie tries to pull the winger up and gets a shove from the Colchester physio..... handbags

8:30pm

Good low take from Barker to hang on to Sembie-Ferris cross

8:25pm

City have it all to do once again as Colchester make it 3-1. Again it's the Bonne and Szmodics show as SZMODICS takes the pass with a brilliant first touch and fires under Barker

8:22pm

And the visitors make the change as Andrews is replaced by Tyler Brampton

8:22pm

8:22pm

Colchester right back Andrews is hobbling into dug-out for treatment

8:16pm

And it's close to 2-2 as Webb-Foster proves too strong for Kent and his shot is well turned away by Bransgrove...

8:15pm

57min, City back in it..... Nathan Curtis drills in low cross from left and goal machine Oliver McBURNIE turns it home. 1-2

8:11pm

.... and it's so close as Szmodics cross-shot just eludes Moore-Azille in the six-yard box.

8:10pm

Corner for Colchester. City cannot afford to leak another or there's no way back

8:08pm

Stockdill free-kick into the box threatens as King volleys just over from six yards out

8:04pm

A booming chorus from a group of away fans as the second half gets going

8:03pm

Pollard off as Waters goes to left back and Jenkinson, a right-footed defender, switches to the other side...

8:02pm

City make a change for the second half. Centre half Jack Waters coming on for Pollard - if the ref can be bothered to reappear...

He does eventually to plenty of cat calls and a friendly reminder from Brian Blessed!

7:47pm

That's the whistle and it's 2-0 to Colchester at the break

7:44pm

Two added minutes

7:44pm

City's defence have struggled against the pace and movement of the Colchester attack. Every time the ball has gone up there, it's looked nervous

7:43pm

Loose ball breaks to Bonne but he snatches at shot from edge of the box

7:43pm

7:41pm

Now City have a huge task on their hands

7:40pm

Colchester double their lead after some poor defending from the home side. Bonne's cross from near the corner flag went right through unhindered and SZMODICS is one of two unmarked players waiting to finish...0-2

7:37pm

Colchester centre half Tariq Moore-Azille is one big unit....

7:35pm

Good, open game this being played at a fair pace... whatever Brian Blessed might think

7:34pm

7:34pm

McBurnie knocks down Mottley-Henry cross but his strike partner Webb-Foster blazes high into the empty TL Dallas Stand

7:33pm

Very loud Brian Blessed-type in front of the press box moaning about Colchester time-wasting...

7:33pm

Webb-Foster's low cross is just too far away for the stretching McBurnie

7:32pm

Colchester very close to a second as Szmodics shot hits Heaton in front of the line and the centre half whacks the rebound away...

7:29pm

Pollard's wild challenge in the box could have ended in a Colchester penalty. Szmodics avoids his outstretched leg and then air-kicks....

7:29pm

Battle of the green boots on City's right between winger Mottley-Henry and Colchester left back Michael O'Donoghue...

7:26pm

City nearly opened up again. Sembie-Ferris lofts pass over the defence and Szmodics' attempted lob is blocked - a bit unconvincingly - by keeper Elliott Barker...

7:21pm

Colchester look a decent side but City are well into this game now

7:07pm

7:04pm

Colchester strike in the third minute. Right back Pollard slips as O'Donoghue overlaps and with the keeper committed, his low cross is tapped home by Macauley BONNE. 0-1

7:01pm

First corner of the night to Colchester but Szmodics' kick headed away by James King

7:01pm

Looks full up at the bottom of the main stand and people still coming in...

6:59pm

And Colchester get us underway towards the Kop

6:58pm

Estimate there are about 100 to 150 here from Colchester... More than Crawley brought on Saturday!

6:56pm

6:53pm

Reminder that there is no extra-time. If the scores are level, it's straight to penalties.

Colchester won that way in the southern final, keeper James Bransgrove saving two Portsmouth spot-kicks after the game had finished 3-3.

City beat Hull 1-0 in the northern decider at Valley Parade with a goal from Reece Webb-Foster.

6:44pm

6:44pm

6:42pm

Good evening and welcome to Valley Parade as City's youth team look to make it a league and cup double.

Having won the Alliance north-east title with ease, Steve Thornber's youngsters now have the national cup in their sights against Colchester.

The crowd is building nicely here and it's a perfect night for football.
