Safety at all costs – that is Phil Parkinson’s only concern for City right now.

With four games left, the Bantams boss has no immediate plans to experiment and tinker with his line-up until League One stability is bolted down.

His side are currently seven points clear of the drop zone with a massively superior goal difference. But as they approach Easter clashes with the teams currently in sixth and seventh, Parkinson still wants to make their position totally secure.

Asked about using the opportunity now to look at different players, he said: “We’re not at that position yet. We need to get ourselves mathematically safe.

“What’s important is that come the end of the season we are safe. That’s the only important thing.

“We know we have had a troubled season with so much disruption. We went into the Rotherham game last Friday with only one fit striker.

“All that matters is that we are still in League One come May 3. Our aim is to get safe – and I’m not too concerned however we do that.”

Parkinson’s options have been boosted by the sight of James Meredith returning to full training this week. The left back has not been involved since New Year’s Day because of a broken foot.

But he will not be making wholesale changes for the Good Friday evening visit from Peterborough, who are close to securing the final play-off spot.

Posh could guarantee their top-six finish with victory at Valley Parade if Swindon and MK Dons, the only teams that can catch them, slip up on their travels earlier in the day.

Parkinson added: “They are seven points clear of Swindon, so I suppose if they lose and Swindon win, it could get nervous for them.

“But to be seven points clear at this stage, you’ve got to be happy with that.

“I went to watch them play on Saturday and for the first 30 minutes they looked like blowing Coventry away. Peterborough were superb during that time.

“But Coventry came back into it second half and had some good chances themselves.

“We know Peterborough have decent threats going forward but they’ve also got a few clean sheets recently. We will be prepared for a tough game.”

Peterborough are worrying over the fitness of influential midfielder Danny Swanson (pictrured), who damaged his ankle during the early stages of that win.
