Bradford Bulls: Danny buoyed by debut for Scotland
Bulls star Danny Addy spoke of his delight after making a try-scoring debut for Scotland in their World Cup warm-up match against Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
Addy started at half-back alongside Huddersfield ace and Man of Steel Danny Brough in the Bravehearts’ 38-20 defeat at Featherstone.
He scored a try and kicked a conversion as Steve McCormack’s men geared up for their World Cup opener against Tonga a week on Tuesday.
Addy, who enjoyed a fine 2013 campaign and qualifies for Scotland through his grandmother, said: “It was just great to make my debut. “We are pleased with the performance and got what we wanted out of the game.
“I’m really excited about the World Cup now and hopefully with another week together we will start to gel.”
New Bulls recruit Dale Ferguson started in the second row and Addy admitted he is looking forward to facing the Tongans next week.
He added: “It’s going to be great to play with Danny Brough and a top NRL player like Peter Wallace.”
Meanwhile, Bulls rookie Alex Mellor was named man of the match as England’s Academy side thrashed their Wales counterparts 64-4 at Taff’s Well on Friday night. Fellow Bull Nathan Conroy also featured at hooker.
Second-rower Mellor and Conroy both turned full-time and made their Super League debuts this year.
