Bradford Park Avenue look at Sunday switch for big FA Cup tie
Bradford Park Avenue’s fourth qualifying round FA Cup tie against Conference Premier high-fliers Kidderminster Harriers at Horsfall Stadium looks set to be played a week on Sunday.
The Conference North club were handed home advantage in yesterday’s draw but they trail their visitors by 30 league places.
Avenue finance director Kevin Hainsworth said: “I always want the easiest draw possible but this is one of the hardest.”
With only the Conference top tier coming in at this stage – the following round is the first proper, when League One and Two clubs join the competition – Avenue could only have landed one club higher than Kidderminster.
Hainsworth quipped: “I’m surprised we got the team in second place and not the Conference leader’s (Cambridge United) – but you have got to beat teams like Kidderminster if you are going to go all the way to Wembley.”
On a more serious note he added: “We are in the process of trying to get the game switched to Sunday (October 27) because City are at home to Wolves and Huddersfield are at home to Leeds on the Saturday.
“We have to get confirmation from Kidderminster and the FA in order to switch the day but it will probably happen.”
Meanwhile, Thackley opened up a four-point cushion at the top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday and will be looking to maintain their advantage when they host struggling Winterton Rangers tonight.
Improving Liversedge would break through the 20-point barrier in the same division if they beat basement outfit Nostell MW at Clayborn.
