The choice is ours

SIR – I write in response to your interview with Mr John Ayers (T&A, August 25) who favours the replacement of the Odeon with a new building. I quote Mr Ayers as saying re the Odeon building: “If we want to retain it we have got to find an alternative new use and I think that has been attempted and failed.”

Mr Ayers is in error! An offer has been made and so far as I know still stands retaining the Odeon building and with details as to its possible future uses.

So it comes down to this: do we, the people of Bradford, want the Odeon, this much-loved building in our city centre, brought back to life and use, or do we want it destroyed to be replaced by a new building of concrete and glass, the like of which can be seen in most cities up and down our country?
