A sale of approximately 200 piggy banks will be taking place at the aptly-named Blue Boar Pub on Thornton Road, Bradford, next Saturday.
The sale and auction from 1pm to 4pm is to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support to help local people affected by cancer. The sale is being organised by estate agent Beverley Smith after the piggy banks were given to her by the owner of a house she is selling.
Mrs Smith said: “For years the gentleman and his mother have collected piggy banks and some are over 50 years old.
“He was pleased when I told him I would be selling them for charity as they had been stored in bags and boxes for quite a number of years.”
Macmillan community fundraiser Charlotte Stern said: “It’s fantastic that Beverley and her husband David have decided to donate the proceeds of such an unusual sale to Macmillan.
“The money will help Macmillan to provide services for people affected by cancer, such as specialist cancer nurses, information and support.”
