Sir – I shoud imagine most road accidents are caused by drivers driving in excess of speed limits and relatively few by those who respect them.
If this is so, what is the point of lowering them?
The first lot will continue to ignore them and the second group will respect them but will not reduce the number of accidents.
Speed cameras would be more beneficial on estates than those on major roads and motorways.
