SIR - I would be delighted if my constituency was served by such a principled, conscientious and honest MP as is Philip Davies, while it is noticeable that John Cole expresses less appreciation, ( T&A letters, June 21).
I recall meeting Mr Davies before he was elected MP for the Shipley Constituency in 2005 and he reassured us at a transport meeting that he wished to serve as a backbench MP for Shipley and held no ambition to become a minister which he stated would distract him from his main objectives.
Mr Davies has kept to his pledge and in the last 15 years has served the constituency well. Having stood in the local elections in Baildon in 2015, I can confirm first hand that Mr Davies is well regarded by many of his constituents who commend him for his diligence and commitment.
It would seem that Mr Cole is too ideologically driven to commend the man, even if disagreeing with his political values.
