SIR - In response to the article written a few weeks ago - "Church reveals ambitious plans for derelict Grade II listed school in Bradford",

I was so sad to hear the news that LIFE Church plan to demolish most of the original Victorian building of the former Wapping Road School.

I attended the school between 1997-2000.

Wapping was a special school - we had philosophy lessons, celebrated all religions, made lots of art, danced around maypoles, swam in Bradford’s first swimming pool.

Wapping taught me to celebrate diversity, to think creatively, to have empathy and in the words of one of my heroes Margaret McMillan that “all children are equal”.

Such a special building with so much import history should never have been neglected like this. It deserves so much more respect!
