SIR - I really must wonder if Colin Durkin (‘Why does May suddenly want to leave the EU?’, T&A letters, March 29) knows what he is talking about.
He accuses Theresa May of suddenly doing a U-turn over the EU.
She is still a staunch believer in the EU but is only doing what the British people asked her to do following the referendum.
We are a democratic nation and it was the will of the majority to leave the EU.
As our Prime Minister, she has a duty to carry out the will of the majority whether she personally agrees with them or not.
As soon as the “remainers” accept the result of a democratic referendum, the sooner they will realise that our leader is doing the right thing in trying to get the best possible deal for all of us.
