SIR - My first thought when I heard about George Osborne taking on another job was that he is just plain greedy.
And that first thought hasn’t changed since...
Most of the population who take on three jobs do so out of economic desperation. The jobs will be part-time, poorly paid or of short duration.
These people are struggling to put food on the table and a roof over their heads, the ‘just about managing’, as the Prime Minister calls them. They work all the hours they can, find themselves exhausted, with little family life - yet they’re still poor.
George Osborne, on the other hand, already makes £650,000 for a four-day month with an investment firm. As an MP, he isn’t badly paid but he still wants more.
So now he will edit a London paper. This is on top of the £780,000 he has earned since last September for giving speeches.
It puzzles me how he will properly serve his constituents, attend the House of Commons, edit a paper and give speeches, let alone do each job as it should be done.
