SIR – I have enjoyed very much your articles on bygone Bradford (March 8 and 15).
Swan Arcade was beautiful with all its lovely shops. It was a shame it was demolished.
I remember Lingards well. There was also a Lingards at the corner of Market Street and Forster Square. On the top floor was a café where you could sit and watch the trams passing by in the square.
Please continue to publish more of these memorable pictures of old Bradford. Pictures of the old cinemas (latterly known as picture houses) would also be enjoyable to see for many of your senior citizen readers, if you have some on your archives.
