SIR – I don’t think people realise how dangerous Moorhead Lane in Shipley is.

At the top cars swerve round a dangerous bend which you can’t see round. You could just step into the road thinking nothing is coming then get squashed with no chance of getting out of the way.

I barely make it across in a morning by the skin of my teeth. How an old person would get across I don’t know.

You have to look both ways at the same time because cars coming down are just as quick as cars coming up and they all drown out the noise of traffic at the opposite side of the road so you can’t hear them coming any more than you can see them.

What makes it worse is that at one side there isn’t a pavement so you have to cross the road simply to get to the bottom or cross back over when a pavement appears halfway down.

How nobody has keen killed up there is little short of a miracle.
