We cannot imagine the horrors of a war zone

SIR – I would imagine that I am not alone in my contempt for these so-called human rights lawyers who have been waging war against our brave and loyal service personnel, and are lining their pockets by way of accusations of inappropriate actions in the line of fire by our troops.

War is a dirty game and there are few rules. Most of us cannot imagine what it is like to be under fire and watching friends and comrades being slaughtered under our eyes. Can we imagine the trauma of that?

Then along comes some jumped-up lawyer telling you that you have “breached the enemy’s human rights”.
