SIR – You’ve got to hand it to US President Donald Trump on his approach to immigration, etc.

Apart from previous moves he now proposes to expel any immigrant who is a burden on the welfare systems, ie, not working and paying their own way.

If we did that, the current national debt in the trillions of pounds or over 90 per cent of GDP could soon be brought down to reasonable levels and maybe taxes too. But how would Labour buy the votes needed to get back in power as they have done in the past via welfare spending?
