The failure to continue the employment of an officer to champion disability issues at the executive meeting on February 7 was totally unnecessary. The relatively small sum of money involved could have been easily found by economies elsewhere in the Council.
Could more be done to share some functions with other neighbouring authorities, this potentially could go beyond back-office functions, do the six West Yorkshire Authorities each need their own senior law officer or senior finance officer? Do four Bradford councillors need substantial allowances for being Executive Assistants?
Does Bradford Council need to subsidise Council unions? How big a public relations and press officer function do we need?
I am sure there are plenty of places where modest savings could be made before affecting the disabled.
