SIR – A few years ago I wrote a letter expressing concerns about the M606, ‘the road to nowhere’.
After several years this so-called motorway causes so much chaos when an accident happens.
The surrounding roads become gridlocked with motorists trying to find alternative ways of getting to their destinations.
I understand the original idea was to join the A650 at the bottom of Wakefield Road, so could someone tell me why it never came to fruition?
I also wonder why after 30 years-plus the A650 from the Drighlington bypass to the Dudley Hill roundabout has not been updated into a dual carriageway.
Property was compulsory purchased on Tong Street 40 years ago with the purpose of widening this main road into and out of Bradford. Now 40 years later this road comes to a standstill between the hours of 8am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm and if an accident happens even longer.
Why has it taken so long for both these two roads to be resolved or is it still ‘a road or roads to nowhere’?
