SIR – Your report (July 20) on the Public Inquiry into the proposed 270-home development on what’s left of Cote Farm opens a new can of worms.
The last meeting in September led to a unanimous decision by Bradford councillors to reject this attempt to build 270 affordable and non affordable homes (whatever that means). The decision was based on a set of criteria placed before the council.
This criteria remains exactly the same, ie green belt, acute and worsening traffic problems and the school placements problem.
The report states that the Inspector will not be given the full facts by the council officers involved.
I am sure the people of Idle and Thackley and indeed any motorist attempting to travel through Shipley and Greengates must insist that the full facts are given to the inspector.
How on earth can an inspector reach the correct decision if he is not given the facts?
In simple terms the criteria submitted to the councillors originally resulted in a rejection of the plan. If the same criteria is submitted to the appeal then in all logic the appeal must fail and the people of Idle and Thackley can confirm they are still in a democracy and can retain the last green space between Calverley and Bingley.
