SIR – The four children’s commissioners urged the Tories with one voice to halt their programme of benefit cuts to prevent more young people being pushed into poverty.
They condemned child poverty rates as “unacceptably high” and said that there had been a failure to protect the most disadvantaged. “The best interests of children were not central to the development of these policies,” the report said.
