Nuisance numbers can often be withheld
SIR – I was interested in your article on cold calling (Friday, March 20).
I have had so many nuisance calls that I can now tell straight away it’s one of those as there is always a pause of a few seconds before they speak.
That’s when I put the phone down. I sometimes ring 1471, it’s either a number that is foreign to me or it’s withheld.
