SIR – I don’t get angry too often but, after reading your report regarding the council budget, cuts in services in order to save money, one thing bugs me.

They cut services but yet put up council tax. Council leaders are paid vast amounts. One in particular receives around the £100,000 mark per year.

I’m pretty sure local councillors have a “day” job, along with “expenses” wages of up to £9,000 per year.

I’m not sure what the average man earns in a year, he works in all weathers, toils hard to earn it but it’s nowhere near £100,000. So it’s about time this ridiculous wage was cut drastically.
