SIR – It is noticeable that more of my critics disagreed with my comment referring to the malign influence of Red Len McCluskey (Letters, February 26).

They will surely remember the dispute at the Grangemouth plant in Scotland where Mr McCluskey’s “persuaders” intimidated the wives and families of the managers in their own homes.

This frightening incident brought back to me memories of Scargill’s flying pickets and of the image of McCluskey gleefully rubbing his hands at the thought of his instructing Miliband to restore secondary picketing.

As I approach my 89the birthday it may possibly not affect me, but I worry on behalf of my children, grand children and great grand children which is why I exhort the as-yet-undecided not vote Labour.
