A man has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a suspicious fire broke out at his home.
Crews from Brighouse, Cleckheaton and Batley were called to the Kirklees Council-owned home in Eighth Avenue, Liversedge, just after 1am today to tackle a fire in the bedroom.
The man, who had tried to go back into the house to put out the fire, was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital.
Watch manager Roger Hare said: "The man was woken by a smoke alarm.
"It's being treated as suspicious. Fire investigation officers will be there today."
