A GROUP is celebrating after scooping a grant to help improve a recreation ground.
The Friends of Scholes Recreation Ground were "overjoyed" after being awarded the top prize of £3,775 in the September/October vote from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.
Customers at the Cleckheaton branch of the store, at Northgate, were given a token when buying their shopping, which they could then use to cast their vote.
The money will be used to purchase blossom trees, picnic benches, bird and bat boxes, a swing and a dog memorial.
Store manager Clare Findlay said the project was going well and local charities and organisations were benefitting as a result.
Bags of Help ploughs money raised from the sale of carrier bags back into projects in communities across the UK.
Three community projects in each area are voted on by customers in Tesco stores, with projects changing every other month
