Pensioner's agony as purse stolen again

A woman has spoken of the heartbreak of having her purse stolen for the second time in five weeks.

Seventy-five-year-old Doreen Larson, of Skipton, lost more than £100 in cash, bank cards and her Danish identity card when thieves took her purse while she was in the Age Concern shop in the town.

Mrs Larson had just been to the bank to withdraw some money when her black leather purse was stolen from her bag.

"Whoever took it has got no respect for themselves or anyone else," she said. "That was my pension, I cannot understand it."

Five weeks ago, Mrs Larson had a purse containing £60 cash taken from her coat pocket in the shop in Westgate.

She said: "It makes me so angry to think that whoever took my money could be spending it on drugs or alcohol.

"I was crying when it happened the second time, it's heartbreaking."

Anyone with information about the theft, which happened on Friday, should contact Skipton Police Station on 0845 6060 247. Alternatively information can be left on the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
