    No plea over sex charges

A man accused of gross indecency against children has been remanded in custody.

Brian Christopher Hearns, 65, of Heath Crescent, Bradley, is charged with four counts of gross indecency on a child under the age of 16 between May 2 1982 and May 1 1983.

A fifth charge concerning a different child under 16 relates to a time between September 15, 2003, and April 30, 2004.

He is also charged with exposing his genitals to someone sometime between May 1, 2004, and September 14, 2004, some time between September 15, 2004 and September 14, 2005 and again, between September 1, 2006, and September 30, 2007.

He is also charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child on March 10.

Hearns made no plea when he appeared at Skipton Magistrates' Court yesterday. Bail was refused and he is due to appear again on Thursday.
