A RESTORED Pilling loom will be part of a special steaming day at Bancroft Mill in Barnoldswick on Sunday.

Visitors can see Lancashire’s largest surviving steam mill engine and a second recently restored engine running, along with weaving demonstrations and other attractions.

A Bancroft Mill spokesman said: “We have been blessed with the assistance of Brian and Peter, two loom experts who have completely restored our Pilling loom and are well advanced in returning to operation another loom we believe was used at Bancroft Mill when it was weaving commercially.”

The loom weaving demonstrations will done in between running the two full-sized steam engines.

The Landrover Series 2 Club will be in attendance, and they hope to bring one that belonged to Fred Dibnah, who restored Bancroft’s chimney in the late 1990s. The museum opens at 11am.
