THE 38th annual Grassington Festival is set to start tomorrow and run until the end of June.

The multi-arts and music festival is renowned for bringing international acts and high quality performances to Grassington and venues across the Craven area.

The festival will feature a packed programme of art, theatre, music, comedy, talks, exhibitions, guided walks, literature and creative workshops.

Many acts this year have ties to the local area and the wider Yorkshire region.

“This festival is absolutely fantastic,” said Grassington Festival chairman Robert Fort. “It brings so much to the area, and those people who are involved with it are proud to be part of it.

“Each year, the challenge of scheduling the festival gets harder and harder, but the great thing about this year is that we’ve covered the whole spectrum from music to theatre, children’s events and literature and comedy.”

This year’s 15-day festival will celebrate people and places and its central theme is A Sense of Belonging.

In a twist on the usual event, for the first time the final day - Saturday, June 30 - there will be a Festival in the Field Day; a full day of entertainment, fun and food kicking off at noon and running until 11pm.
