THE village of Linton in Craven was transformed on Saturday with a village party to coincide with the Royal Wedding.

Coloured bunting, live music and royal themes ran throughout the afternoon.

With royal sports for the younger members of the village including a golden egg and spoon race and pass the crown relay race.

A royal raffle, a royal look-a-like competition and aristocratic art competitions entertained everyone.

Entries for the stately bake off were abundant with the ginger cake baking competition judged by the village's own local royalty the Calendar Girls.

Great fun was had by all with vintage tractors on display and a visit from the local fire engine.

The event was concluded with a duck race on the stream with Tricia Stewart from the Calendar Girls looking incredibly stylish attired in royal wellies, catching the winner in a fishing net.

"It was a wonderful quintessential English afternoon," said Louise Coverdale, Linton parish clerk.

The event, organised by Linton Parish Council, raised money for Threshfield Primary School, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Firefighters charity.
