EARBY marked the centenary of the Royal Air Force (RAF) by raising a flag in the town.

The RAF flag was raised on the Earby Town Council flagpole at Earby Bus Station to mark the centenary of the RAF on Sunday, April 1.

The Rev Hugh Fielden, Royal British Legion chaplain and vicar at All Saints Parish Church, conducted a short service to express the church's gratitude to all RAF personnel.

The flag was raised by Mark Hyde, who had served in the RAF for 18 years, assisted by Adrian Lilley, chairman of the Barnoldswick and District Royal British Legion and who had served with the Royal Anglian Regiment.

Mr Lilley spoke the Exhortation ahead of two minutes silence followed by the Kohima Epitaph.
