STEETON firm Acorn Stairlifts has given a boost to a Barnoldswick charity shop.

Since taking ownership of the new Bosom Friends community centre on Green Street, Barnoldswick, the trustees, volunteers and local community have been working tirelessly to ensure it is fit for purpose and suitable for all those who use it.

However, the trustees became stuck when trying to raise vital funds for a stairlift to enable all users of the centre to access the upstairs which – when finished – will be the centre’s function suit.

A Crowdfunding page set up to get a stairlift and decorate the upstairs raised just over £300. However this was not have been enough to purchase a stairlift as they can retail at around £3,000 or £4,000.

Then Acorn Stairlifts got in touch to offer and fit a stairlift free of charge.

Bosom Friends founder Mary Brennan said: “This kind of support is fantastic as it means the centre can better accommodate those who use it.”
