PUPILS and staff at West Craven High School in Barnoldswick helped raise almost £600 for the NSPCC on Number Day.

Maths teacher Catherine Erskine organised a range of fun maths-related activities on the day to help the school promote numeracy and raise funds for the fight against child abuse.

With pupils encouraged to come to school in number themed clothing, all subject teachers incorporated a Maths theme into their lessons with activities including number Blockbusters, Who Wants to be a Mathionaire?, Fizz Buzz, a number hunt competition and shape related PE.

A bake sale, with some cakes decorated with Pi, added to the school’s fundraising efforts.

Mrs Erskine said: “Number Day is a great way for schools to have some fun with Maths in a wide range of lessons while also making a valuable contribution to the NSPCC’s fight for every childhood.”

The event raised £580.79.
