A local supermarket hopes its customers will recycle enough Christmas cards through the store to enable it to plant more than 500 trees.

Asda at Pudsey is providing collection bins for cards until Wednesday, January 16, and it will donate all proceeds to the charity Trees for Cities.

Last year the initiative reduced the one billion cards that end up in waste bins across the UK by recycling 150 tonnes of cards and raised £1,500 for charity.

The collection bins are by the customer service desk.

Asda: Owned by Walmart.
Walmart: huge American company, allegedly making profits of $20,000 a minute!!

Now, I'm all in favour of recycling but how about Asda and Asda's big daddy set a good example by cutting down on packaging and behaving with more corporate responsibility?

'All the proceeds will go to the Trees for Cities charity' - to replace some of the greenbelt they've built their retail behemoths on, perchance?

Sorry, looks like Greenwash to me.
